Spinal Interventional Neuroradiology- advantages

NO GENERAL ANESTHESIA

It only requires a modest local subcutaneous anesthesia: it is therefore not necessary to subject the patient to a general anesthesia, usually required in the case of "traditional" surgical interventions.

NO RISK OF DEEP SCARS

It is practiced by the skin, therefore there are no deep incisions of the muscle-ligamentous tissues with scalpels, usually performed in "traditional" surgery and often cause microhemorrhages around the disc or nerve root which, with the formation of periradicular scars, they are among the main causes of the failure of the conventional intervention itself.

NO RISK OF SURFACE SCARS

No skin incision is made, but simple introduction of coaxial retractors, avoiding unsightly scars on the skin.

REDUCED INTERVENTION AND DEGENCY TIMES

In normal conditions, the duration of the intervention does not exceed 60-90 minutes. The hospital stay is usually observed for a period of 12-24 hours.
